Climate Tribe Social: A Different Way Forward
I want to share an out-of-the-box idea for how we might work together to confront five interconnected emergencies: Climate, Ecological, Democracy, Humanity, and Displacement. (Displacement is what I previously called the Climate Refugee Emergency.)
This is an invitation to help build something grounded in kindness, empathy, and compassion, with real opportunities for collaboration, cooperation, and networking. My purpose has not changed: to protect our children’s future and the biodiversity we all depend on, and to connect people who want to turn concern into meaningful action.
Why I Am Moving Forward
Developing and speaking about this vision has not been easy. I have faced pushback, aggressive intimidation, and what I can only describe as normalized cruelty.
What matters more is this: those experiences have not weakened my commitment. They have strengthened it. They have made me more determined to find people and communities willing to pursue a different way forward, one that refuses to treat cruelty as normal or compassion as weakness.
That is where I choose to put my energy: into connecting with people who are ready to build, prepare, and support one another.
Finding Communities Ready to Act
I want to connect with communities eager to begin, or accelerate, hands-on adaptation and resilience work.
Not every community is ready for these conversations. In some places, efforts to prepare for worsening conditions meet outright resistance. I do not want that resistance to set the limits of what willing communities can accomplish.
So the question I want us to ask is simple:
What can we begin doing together, with the people who are ready, rather than waiting for everyone to agree?
This is not about abandoning those who hesitate. The door stays open. It is about making room for those who are ready now to share knowledge, strengthen relationships, and take practical steps together.
Why I Think of It as a City
Climate Tribe Social has grown to the point that I now think of it as a city.
I don’t mean a physical place. I mean breadth and depth. The range of topics is staggering, with detailed attention to subjects connected to all five emergencies. Like a city, it has neighborhoods of knowledge, gathering places, and many different ways in.
But a city is more than its buildings. It is its people and how they treat one another. What matters most is the opportunity for collaboration, cooperation, and networking across all of those subjects. I want Climate Tribe Social to be a place where people can find each other, exchange ideas, connect their efforts, and build meaningful working relationships.
Kindness, empathy, and compassion are not decorative words here. They are the foundation for how we interact.
The goal is not simply to gather more information. It is to help people move from information to connection, and from connection to thoughtful, shared action.
An Invitation to Founding Members
On October 1, 2026, I will publish a series of related posts here at adaptive-resiliency.info/ that introduce this evolving vision more fully. I hope you will take the time to read them.
Between October 1 and December 21, 2026, I will be extending personal invitations to family, friends, and trusted individuals and organizations to take part in the founding-member process. You do not need to wait for one. If this purpose speaks to you, I welcome your expression of interest now.
Looking further ahead, I hope to one day open an office in New York, Canada, or France to help carry this work forward. That is a hope, not a promise, and it is no reason to wait. This work begins with the people who show up now.
To young adults, and to anyone wondering whether it is still worth setting goals, I offer my own life as an example. At this later stage, I am still building. Climate Change Community LLC continues to grow, and I am gradually bringing to life two communities dedicated to a better future for our children and for biodiversity. Progress has been slow, but slow is not the same as pointless. You do not need your whole future figured out to take one meaningful step. Whatever your age, your ideas, your care, and your contributions matter. You are worthy of support even on the days you feel discouraged, and you do not have to build your future alone.
